Ramadhan : A Month Full With Meanings.
Written by GnomeFan on August 31, 2008 – 1:47 pm -
It’s that time of year again! No, not the time to put up flags on your car or home. This is much more important than just showing your patriotism . The time of fasting is upon us people!
Yes, the sacred month of Ramadhan is here again. A meaningful and blessed month that was given by Allah to us. I love this month so much. I don’t know why, but somehow, it brings a kind of happiness that i cannot explain. No, it’s not about the food (SOME of the time).
The muslim community in Malaysia somehow comes alive during this month. The mosque, suraus and madrasahs lights up and brings a comfortable feeling to people that is passing by it or going in it. The night prayer (after Isya’) or tarawikh is an addition ‘feature’ during the fasting month. Every night of tawarikh has it’s own meanings and ‘after-life advantages’ towards Muslims who commit in doing it.Ramadhan is also a month where you find people being nice. I think Allah put something in the air to make us feel this way thus being nice and considered towards others.

Other than that, there’s the bazaar Ramadhan. Which is somewhat like a pasar malam but it’s in the evening, around 4-7pm only. This somewhat has become a tradition to me and my family to go to the bazaar Ramadhan and search for kuihs and side menus for our breaking of fast.
There’s also the fireworks ( i don’t know the english translation for bunga api :P)
Those are just the side ‘offering’ of Ramadhan, don’t forget the main reason why Allah blessed us with this beautiful month.

Happy Ramadhan To All Muslims!!

Maxis pissing off their users.
Written by GnomeFan on August 21, 2008 – 7:58 pm -
This is not the first time i write about this company. And maybe not the last. The company is a multimillion ringgit company, a company with a great look, a company that promises their users the BEST service, coverage and such. Want to know what company i’m talking about? Maxis.
Want to know what is the problem with me and Maxis this time? Their prepaid service, HOTLINK. I’m a Hotlink user, yes, i’m guilty of supporting something that is stupid. It’s been a couple of weeks that i ( i don’t think i’m the only one) suffered by using their service. Why i’m suffering you ask? well, they kept sending me ‘promotion’ messages that i would like to label as, SPAM. (Sending me almost 10 messages under 3 hours is not spam?) Asking me to buy this, telling me to try that, trying to rip people off is what they’re trying to do. I’m not putting into account the ’sexy videos, and pics’ messages that i receive every single day.
I hope that Maxis stop this bull-waste and start improving their service. If not, i may have to change to another provider.

Olympic Beijing opening ceremony firework…fake?
Written by GnomeFan on August 12, 2008 – 11:27 am -**edit : The fireworks DID go off. But, the tv version of the fireworks are ‘enhanced’ with the graphics they made…sorry for the mistake**
Yeap. It was faked. Over 3 billion people are lied to that night. Don’t know which firework i’m talking about?? Here’s a pic.

This is the ‘fake’ firework being ‘blown’ up into the Beijing sky.
Despite being duped, and lied to, i think that the animation shown on air that night, it’s really fascinating. How could technology trick so much people into believing it’s real? The animation crew must’ve worked hard on this project ,which they took one year to complete! Stunning visual effects weh!
To add more real life ‘things’ to the lies, they even put haze in the skies to mimic the after effect of a firework show. They even added the ‘camera shaking’ for the shots that was taken from the helicopter. Damn detailed.
Eventhought i’m at awe with the effects, there are still people that are mad because they were cheated to believe that the fireworks were real. But, who cares!
Let’s see what more will Beijing Olympics bring us!
